SMOKING


TOBACCO

Tobacco smoking is the practice of burning tobacco and inhaling the smoke to let out in small puffs after a few minutes. Link between lung and smoking was seriously taken up in 1920 onwards.
Smoke from burning tobacco are absorbed in lungs through alveoli in the lungs. Many substances in the cigarette smoke trigger chemical reaction in the nerve ends. They increase the heart rate, alertness. They release Dopamine and endorphins which are pleasure boosters.

The practice of cigarette smoking causes nausea and cough. They are overcome due to peer pressure. Smoking history started in 6000 BC and became deeply rooted in mankind when cigarette rolling machines came into existence in 19th century.

Compared to other method of smoking cigarette smoking is more harmful. Since pH value is only 5.3,  non ionized nicotine is easily absorbed by the membranes in the mouth. Small dosage remains in the body and give rise to somatic dependency and strong psychological dependency. That is how addiction develops.
The following factors are the causes for persistence: Pleasure from smoking, relaxation, social smoking, etc. Smoking is the leading cause for heart attack, strokes, pulmonary disease, cancer etc.
